Leigh VardAnega AND renay Smith

Leigh is a Sydney based abstract artist. From her home studio on the
Northern Beaches she creates work inspired by the coastal and bush
environment and her memories of formative years spent by the sea. She
has pursued a lifelong creative practice that has included ceramics &
photography in which she has undertaken formal studies. Leigh’s life is
immersed in creative pursuits but the discipline that she considers the best
expression of her ideas is painting.
Her work is imbued with sophisticated and considered mark making
capturing her response to the environment and the cultural experiences of
travel and journeying. Her paintings are multi-layered, scratched, scraped
and glazed to produce rich textures and vibrant hues. Leigh’s work is about
joy, she aims to inspire a love of landscape and an appreciation of shape
and colour.
Leigh Vardanega’s work has been shown in various group exhibitions
across NSW, she is a member of an artist’s collective and her paintings are
held with local and interstate collectors.
