A love for walking through isolated mountain areas, with limited vegetation, where extremes in the weather occur, especially above the tree line, was inspiration for this exhibition.  I like observing the ruggedness of the alpine environment – its complex structure and its rawness.

 I use relief surfaces and a wide range of textures to convey an impression of this environment.  I employ colour and paint in a way to magnify the details I have observed which transforms them from realism to the abstract. Heather Mead
