Artist Statement– “As a child growing up in rural England I knew that I was somehow different and therefore spent much time alone, observing and exploring the countryside.  I loved nature and was fascinated by how it operates, eventually training to be a biologist – but “accidentally” ending up as an IT practitioner for 45 years!

As life progressed and my gender variance became harder to suppress and hide, spending time alone in nature became a crucial coping mechanism in a society that wasn’t always tolerant of difference.  In recent years I’ve used photography to express my marvel at the natural world, and at times to communicate my feelings.  Now, to mark my 70th birthday, this exhibition shares the results of that journey, with its origin in the Leicestershire hedgerows, fields, brooks and woods.”
