MANLY CREATIVE OPEN

The Annual Northern Beaches Council’s CREATIVE OPEN is now on in Manly and the Northern beaches over this weekend and Gallery 109 are participating.

On exhibition are works by resident artist Heather Mead with paintings from her recent exhibition “The World Below”- an exploration of life below the waves.

We are also a venue for a “Treasure Hunt” created by local artist Rebecca Hinwood. Other participating galleries are the Manly Art gallery and Museum, Sydney Road Gallery at Balgowlah and the Crackpot Studio and Gallery

Follow the trail from Manly to Freshwater to some of the Northern Beaches’ most intriguing galleries. Whilst at each gallery observe and contemplate the work that is on display but, at the same time, keep an eye out for the treasures you are seeking, which will be in the form of metal sculptures portraying the distinctive features of several Australian floral species, one species per gallery. To complete the hunt you will need to locate each piece and, through close observation and research, identify to which plant group each sculpture belongs. A QR code will be paired to each piece which will lead you to information to help you make your decision. The first 3 people to complete the hunt will win a $50 gift voucher to use towards one of my readymade or commissioned jewellery pieces. The works displayed at each gallery will also be for sale, sold through each gallery.
