KRYSTAL RAVEN “My life as a Purrmaid”

PART OF THE GALLERY 109 “WINDOW ONLY” SERIES

Krystal Raven is an artist who lives in a small inland town in Central Queensland.  Her works symbolize her desire for a move to a coastal town.  The “Purrmaids ” are half cat and half fish.  These objects represent herself.  She is a young woman caught in one world but desiring to move to another

The dream weavers are styled in such a way as to echo the forms, colours and textures of flotsam and jetsam washed up on a beach.

The medium of crotchet evokes ideas of the craft forms employed by women in small country towns.  Through the use of this medium, Krystal Raven honours the artistic traditions of the place she lives in and from which she wishes to flee.
